Our Mission Statement

The purpose of the Lighthouse Baptist Church is the worship of Almighty God, the salvation of souls, the growth and  development of individual Christian character and of the Christian home, and the advancement of the cause of Jesus Christ as set forth in the Great Commission.

The Great Commission

Go ye therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them into the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.
Matthew 28:19-20 (ASV)

Our Covenant

Having been led, as we believe, by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior, and on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ.

To contribute to the support of the ministry and mission of this church through stewardship;

To encourage family and personal devotions and to educate our children in the faith of Jesus Christ;

To walk circumspectly in the world and to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.

Rev. Hal Hopkins

Pastor Hopkins was born and raised in Philadelphia.  From the time he was born, his parents took him to church.  He was raised in a loving church home.  His family and church provided an incubator that nurtured him and created an environment that led him to give his heart to Jesus at an early age.

Enjoying and having a passion for music, Pastor Hal (as he is affectionately called), was led to pursue a career in music at what was then called the Philadelphia Musical Academy.  While pursuing his passion for music, he was being pursued by a loving God that had another agenda for his life.

Surrendering to the greater call, he left PMA and transferred to Philadelphia College of Bible, currently Cairn University, to begin his ministerial training.

After spending several years in youth ministry, in 1981 he was called to his first senior pastoral position where he served for almost 15 years.  In 1996 a call came for him to join the staff of the Baptist Convention of Pennsylvania and South Jersey where he assisted in church “planting”.  Pastor Hal continues to serve in that capacity today.  In addition, he serves as the team leader for BRN (Baptist resource network) Philadelphia.

In the fall of 2012, the Lighthouse welcomed Pastor Hal as our Interim Pastor.  In November of 2013, he began serving as our permanent pastor.

Pastor Hal and his lovely wife, Debbie, are the proud parents of 6 children and 5 grandchildren.  Their love for Jesus shines through them both as they serve the Lord at the Lighthouse.

Pastor Hal's sermons can be heard on our "Sermons" page.
